The pita is of an entirely different level to anything we’ve sampled in an Adelaide restaurant previously. The bread is soft and savoury but with an aroma of sweetness that is, indeed, reminiscent of a scone. We slather on the baba ganoush and the dark brown hummus.
Do not underestimate this bread.
The menu revolves around the wood-fired oven, which fires at 400 degrees. Out of it comes fall-apart lamb shoulder, slow roasted pork belly, king prawns, charred veggies, whole barramundi and soft, steamy pita.
Yiasou George is great value and a load of fun. If you don’t have a plane ticket and squillions for squid, it’s the place to go for your next Greek party.
