"I consider myself currently to be both a photorealist artist and digital collage artist. I have over 40 years experience as a photographer but currently I seldom use a camera. Rather I use a flatbed scanner and scan objects digitally with high resolutions into a computer where I enhance their visual characteristics. I am after a level of clarity and photorealistic detail that can only be gotten from a digital flatbed scanner. I also use the scanner because I get a quality of light that is unique to this equipment, a quality which is not obtainable when using photo lights or natural lighting and a camera. I then digitally collage and layer these scans in Adobe Photoshop, adding, altering and collaging for emphasis and interest.

As a digital collage artist I am intrigued with layers in images. For me these are metaphors that operate on several levels: layers of earth stratification, layers of human culture, and layers of the human psyche My work as an artist is about the intermingling and dynamics of these layers. They are visual representatives of their presences. The use of floral objects as layers in my images is also intentional.

As a digital collage artist my favorite objects are flowers because they show us most clearly about layers and life cycles with their sudden appearance and then gradual disappearance. They are ever changing, evolving, into simple yet powerful forms. I love the beauty of flowers, their color, their breathtaking detail, and amazing complexity. I love their exciting organic shapes and their ability to assume completely individual structures that occurs without repeating one another."

"On this site I have chosen to include my Giclee print business with my work as an artist because they are so closely tied together. When I make giclee prints for myself I am extremely exacting, seeking to create the best quality print that I can. And when I make giclee prints for others I bring the exact same metaculous attention to color and detail as if these were prints for myself. I just cannot imagine doing it differently.

When preparing client works for giclee printing I use Adobe Photoshop. I have been using Photoshop for almost 15 years so I consider myself both an expert and artist with this software. I also have taught Photoshop both at a University and in private tutoring. I can do magic in preparing both my own and client images for giclee printing. Many of my clients recognize this which is why they return for more giclee printing.

Over several years I have developed a thorough understanding of my Colorspan printer with which I use to obtain giclee prints with stunning degrees of color and saturation.
