No Peace on Earth:
A Holiday Feast from the UFC & IFL & Fedor vs. Goliath

The Holiday feasting continues for MMA fans everywhere with an “ammazing” lineup of TV fight treats scheduled between now and the time the cork pops at midnight on New Year’s Eve. UFC 79 and the IFL Grand Prix Finals are both scheduled for Saturday, December 29th (did Santa bring that Tivo?) and Fedor finishes with a flourish in an HDNet Fights battle from Tokyo on New Year’s Eve.
Not much more can be said about UFC 79 than has already been babbled about incessantly in the media and fight - site postings ever since the card was announced. If you’ve been living in a gingerbread house, it features Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva and Matt Hughes against Georges St. Pierre. Like “visions of sugarplums,” MMA fanatics have fantasized about the “Iceman” vs. the “Axe Murderer” for many Christmases past. Now, a bit belated, this UFC Christmas present is wrapped and ready for delivery.

Mixed martial arts coming back to Valdosta
Bubby Mitchell with RushMMA makes a return to the ring when he steps up to fight in Valdosta this saturday night in the 125lbs division.
Bubby is coming off of a 4 year layoff and looks to make his mark this weekend. RushMMA is quickly making a name for itself with exciting skilled fighters and continues to grow into one of the prominent places to train in the south.
The fight will take place at the Lowndes County Conference Center. Check back for the updated fight card.

Brian Bowles defeats Marcos Galvao via TKO at WEC 31
GEORGIAMMA.COM sponsored fighter Brian Bowles wins in spectacular fashion at WEC 31 in the 2nd round with a vicious TKO!
The 1st round was very competitive with both fighters landing shots. Galvao tried to take the fight to the ground where his expertise lies, however Brian displayed superior wrestling with good sprawls and kept the fight where he wanted it and at his pace.
The 2nd round saw Brian just start to stalk Galvao landing the right hand time and time again until it finally finished the night and earned KO of the night honors!!
I believe at this point someone has to be thinikng title shot for this humble yet dominant Georgia boy.
Brian is the perfect role model for what a champion should be. WEC, please give this man a title shot!

And if you’re like everyone else, you like to think of your keen MMA insight as the perfect opportunity to “run smack” on all your friends.

KATIE DOWNES TO HOST STARS IN THE CAGE
UK Model and Actress Katie Downes will host celebrity mixed martial arts reality show
Atlanta, GA – British beauty Katie Downes has agreed to host Stars in the Cage. Ms. Downes who is best known for her work as an international glamour model is no stranger to the camera having appeared in Rob Schneider’s Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, as well as being featured on the cover of the August 2007 issue of Maxim UK magazine. Ms. Downes will be joined by professional mixed martial arts fighter and co-host Bryan Cohen.
Stars in the Cage will feature teams of celebrities training and competing in mixed martial arts fights. The celebrities will be trained by well known professional MMA fighters. In addition to the celebrity fighters each team will have one up and coming professional fighter who will be fighting for a professional MMA contract. Shooting is projected to begin in spring 2008.
Stars in the Cage is a joint venture between Atlanta based Mammoth Sports & Entertainment and New York based Intuition Media Group.

FINAL RESULTS FROM XFF 6
For the most part we here at GeorgiaMMA.com have been treated very well by all of the promoters for the venue's that we have covered. Ken Coffey and the crew at XFF 6 went above and beyond and gave us all access to the event. We have never been treated with the professionalism and class that was given to us at this event. So from GeorgiaMMA.com we say thank you to all the staff that worked the XFF 6 event.
I do not know who the matchmaker was for this event, however this was far and away the best matched card from top to bottom that I have personally witnessed. From crafty submissions, to lightning fast knockouts to Grinding decisions this event was the best experience for me thus far in our local coverage of mixed martial arts.

Wanna “feel like a kid at Christmas” again? If you’ve been busy knocking back eggnog or spending too much time in the gym, you need to take a gander at the World Extreme Cagefighting holiday card at the Joint in Las Vegas, less than two weeks away. Featuring no less than three title fights with “The California Kid,” Urijah Faber, in the main event, it looks to be a smashing, “mmartistic” success. And it’s free on Versus HD!
Featherweight Faber has impressed everyone with his solid grappling, high speed stand-up skills and raw athleticism – except those who say he hasn’t really fought anyone yet. Fighting an older, more experienced Jeff Curran, who has exactly twice as many fights (40) as Faber, should provide the long awaited “real test” for the Faber fella. We “call the win Urijah” in this one.
