Libya TVET Leadership and Management Development

Contracted by the British Council to develop the above programme in the context of an EU funded initiative designed to modernize the TVET system in Libya and improve capacity and competence.
Festival.org

Developing the Equality, Inclusion and Diversity Strategy for Festival.org to ensure that the Board has clear objectives, with identified success criteria. The model also identifies who will be responsible, the timescales and the resources required. This will enable the Board of Trustees to identify progress in all areas and also note those areas where further actions are needed using a simple traffic light system.
Tonic Housing Association

Working on a ‘good governance’ model for the organisation to ensure that it has governance that is suitable for purpose within the context of the regulations of a Housing Association in the UK.
I-WORK Cardiff
March to May 2020
A British Council project aimed at identifying and implementing best practice in working with employers on competency-based education and training in four different countries: Ghana, India and Malaysia and South Africa.
I was commissioned to consult with I-WORK participants on the content of the leadership modules to ascertain their specific training needs. I then designed and delivered six leadership training modules to leaders of TVET institutions.
Study visits for Career Development Centres
October / November 2019
This knowledge exchange visit was part of a larger UNESCO project focusing on leadership in delivering a competency based TVET curriculum in Iraq.
I was commisioned to design and deliver a knowledge exchange visit for Career Development Centre Managers from Iraq. I also delivered a full evaluation report on the programme with recommendations on lessons learned for any similar programmes in the future.
TVET in Jordan

Working with the British Council in Jordan on branding and visual identity assignments for various TVET projects including the the JNVQ Roadmap for Success project and partnership working with Al Hussein Technical University.
Reforming Technical Education in Iraq
December 2016 – November 2018
An EU funded project being delivered through the British Council and UNESCO in Iraq. I was commissioned to:
Update and rewrite the current Leadership Standards taking note of international best practice
Write the materials for a Leadership Development programme to be delivered by Iraq trainers
Ensure that these new materials reflected the Training Needs Analysis that had been conducted in 2016
Design and deliver a Train the Trainers workshop in Erbil to prepare the 10 Iraqi trainers to deliver the programme over the following year.
Mentor the trainers during the life of the programme
TVET study visits to the UK
October/November 2018
Designed and delivered two study visits for 40 TVET leaders from Iraq. One visit was based on work shadowing in colleges across the UK including Northern Ireland. The following visit had a focus on ‘fact finding’ about the nature of the UKs TVET system with inputs from all major players in the delivery of the UK skill’s system.
Each visit included a major element of quality control to ensure the objectives were being effectively delivered. Compiled a detailed report on the visits and the lessons learned.
TVET Qualifications Framework Iraq
August 2017
In Beirut I delivered a seminar for UNESCO on the Theory of Change to Iraqi TVET leaders working on the new Qualifications framework for Iraq.
This is part of an EU funded project that is seeking to reform and modernise Technical and Vocational Education in Iraq.
Pearson Teaching Awards
National judge for Pearson Teaching awards in Further Education (FE). Involves shortlisting both individual lecturers and teams in FE and then undertaking 3 hour visits to all those shortlisted.
College African Mentoring Initiative Gambia
Geoff has been involved for over three years in the development of a mentoring project in Africa. Recently he compiled a summative report that covered all the activities so far within this project and also included recommendations based on his research on future steps to enhance and support the project and ensure its sustainability.
British Council / European Union – Libya
Geoff prepared materials for a management development programme for Principals of vocational colleges based around Tripoli as part of a British Council/EU funded project. In the event the project was postponed due to the ongoing troubles that are still occurring in Libya.
British Council Skills Study Report
Updating the British Council’s internally facing Skills Study report that provides detailed information on the UK’s Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system for British Council staff. Updating the internally facing Power point associated with this Study.
Delivering two webinars to British Council staff across the world to familiarize them with this study and the UK’s TVET system.
Writing and designing a new externally facing booklet that explains the UK’s TVET system to potential overseas partners for the British Council. Providing an externally facing Power Point presentation to accompany this booklet.
