A distinguished collection of over 50 antique and classic automobiles housed in a spectacular three floor building located just south of LaPorte. The collection also features antique toys, airplanes and historic facades spanning 100 years of automotive history.

Open April 1st thru December 23rd the Door Prairie Auto Museum depicts many domestic and international influences that have affected the American love for the open road.

The collection covers 100 years - beginning with an example of the world's first car, an 1886 Benz Motor Wagon. There are also Auburn, Bricklin, Citroen, Daimler, Duesenberg, Duryea, Ford, Mercedes, Mitchell, Rolls Royce, Studebaker, Tucker, Winton and many others. Your visit will provide an opportunity to re-live the exciting development of the automobile from the very first car up to the present.

Also featured is a recreation of a block on old Main Street in LaPorte showing business store fronts of three different eras.

Some  additions for 1999 include:
The "Indiana Room" with a complete collection of Indiana license plates,
models of Rumely tractors and photos of the Munson gas/electric automobile made in LaPorte.

There is also a collection of Scholl Dairy memorabilia including ice cream molds, dippers and a stanchion used by the late Dr. Scholl (of foot fame), when as a boy he milked cows on a farm near LaPorte.

The Kesling Room now has on display the aircraft Dr. Peter Kesling crashed while on a flight to St. Louis in the 1960's.
